CANADIAN HUMAN RIGHTS TRIBUNAL HEARING
CANADIAN HUMAN RIGHTS TRIBUNAL HEARINGS CONTINUES MARCH 15, 2010
The Canadian Human Rights Tribunal hearing will continue next week after a three month break. The hearing concerns the struggle of Teiohontathe Fallan Davis and Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA).
She has filed a claim that alleges that because of her age, race and gender she was profiled. Her vehicle was xrayed several times during one inspection at the port of entry on Cornwall Island in 2005. She alleges that this was the first time that this machine was used on a passenger vehicle. It is normally used for commercial trucks.
Fallen has struggled and has managed to have her time in this tribunal to have the world know some of the injustices that Onkwehonwe face on a daily basis in Akwesasne. She and her mother with the help of some friends have prepared all of the documentation for this hearing.
Since the reopening of CBSA at the bottom of the bridge in Cornwall, the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne has received over 100 complaints of mistreatment at the current port of entry. There have been 4 complaints that have been forwarded to the Canandian Human Rights.
Good luck next week Fallan, we are behind you.
